Con el tema de tesis “Fracturas metabólicas del extractivismo forestal y respuestas comunitarias frente a la escasez hídrica: el caso de Ranguelmo en la Región de Ñuble”, Nelson Alarcón Medina, rindió su examen de grado. Es el primer graduado del Magíster que defiende de forma online.
En el contexto de pandemia mundial, el Programa de Magíster en Investigación Social y Desarrollo continúa con sus actividades académicas, permitiendo desarrollar las distintas áreas de estudio y programa curricular. En el caso de la defensa de tesis, Nelson Alarcón fue el primero que lo hace en forma virtual.
La tesis de Nelson investiga la relación entre extractivismo forestal y la escasez hídrica, así como también las respuestas y propuestas comunitarias a estos procesos en el caso de Ranguelmo, comuna de Coelemu, Región de Ñuble.
Para Nelson: «el proceso de hacer la defensa online si bien es diferente al enfrentarse al modo presencial normal (mas dependencia tecnológica, menos interacción gestual, etc.) me pareció bastante cómodo de realizar, pues permite centrarse en los puntos esenciales a tratar y a su vez se pueden incorporar elementos que en el modo presencial cuestan más, como por ejemplo el video e imagen». sostuvo.
La guía de tesis de Nelson estuvo a cargo del Dr. Robinson Torres Salinas. La Comisión la integraron el Dr. Ricardo Barra de la Facultad de Ciencias Ambientales y Centro Eula Chile, y la Magíster en Investigación Social y Desarrollo: Noelia Figueroa Burdiles.
